FEATS
OF THE WEEK: Preseason No. 1 Chicago, Simeon re-entered the national
Top 25 after slipping past No. 17 Memphis, Tenn., Southwind, 55-53,
at the Penny Hardaway Hoop Fest in Memphis. With Duke recruit Jabari
Parker hampered by a broken foot, Simeon lost its two prior games
against nationally ranked teams by a combined total of 39 points. A
now healthier Parker scored 21 points to lead the No. 14 Wolverines
past Southwind. ... A battle between Las Vegas area nationally ranked
teams proved to be a mismatch as No. 2 Henderson, Nev., Findlay
whipped No. 20 Las Vegas, Bishop Gorman, 65-45. It was the Pilots'
sixth win in as many meetings over the Gaels. ... Host Brookfield,
Wis., Brookfield Central pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the
season when it beat then-No. 9 Chester, Pa., 64-56, at the Brandon
Jennings Invitational. Junior guard Riley LaChance led the way with
29 points. In other action at the Brandon Jennings event, No. 6
Highland, Utah, Lone Peak secured its fourth win of the year against
a ranked team and its seventh against a non-Utah opponent. BYU
recruit Nick Emery had 20 points to lead the Knights to a 63-59 win
against regionally ranked High Point, N.C., Wesleyan. ... Elliott
Cole scored 64 points as Chicago, Power House hammered Chicago,
Little Village, 96-58. ... Mentor, Ohio, drained 22 3-pointers while

NOTE: This is the 26th consecutive season for World Features Syndicate's National Prep Poll. It is the 13th straight year the National Prep Poll has been compiled by Jamie DeMoney.
About the National Prep Poll: Compiled weekly weekly since 1987 and distributed by World Features Syndicate and the Associated Press, the National Prep Poll is the nation's second oldest weekly high school sports rankings. Doug Huff compiled the rankings from 1987 until 1999. Jamie DeMoney has compiled the poll since the start of the 1999 basketball season to the present.
The National Prep Poll is the only high school poll distributed to newspapers and Web sites around the United States by the Associated Press national wire service.
Among the criteria used in the weekly compilation of the National Prep Poll rankings are strength of schedule, the ability to accomplish the ultimate goal on a team's schedule (i.e. winning a championship), impact players and performers, a team's coaching and recent tradition.
About PrepNation.com: PrepNation.com was originally launched August 1, 2001 by Jamie DeMoney for the purpose of creating a permanent online home for the National Prep Poll football and boys basketball rankings.
