PrepNation 101 Preseason Countdown: No. 34 Notre Dame

PrepNation.com continues the most comprehensive package of preseason high school football rankings ever published. We are counting down the PrepNation 101 Preseason High School Football Rankings, from No. 101 to No. 26, leading up to the release of the official preseason National Prep Poll on August 3.

34. Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks, Calif.)
Last season: 11-1, lost in second round of CIF-SS Pac-5 playoffs
Coach: Kevin Rooney
Key players: QB Ryan Kasdorf (6-1, 205, Sr.), OL-DL Ben Gottschalk (6-4, 250, Sr.), RB-DB Kenny Boggs (5-6, 170, Sr.), OL-DL Daniel Munyer (6-3, 265, Sr.), OL Tyler Sulka (6-5, 270, Sr.), LB Wayne Swinson (5-11, 190, Sr.), LB Andrew Kimble (5-9, 200, Sr.), DL D.J. Nelson (6-3, 215, Sr.), DB Bryan Ruballo (5-9, 170, Sr.)
Outlook: Reigning Gatorade state player of the year Kasdorf is one of six returning offensive starters. As a junior, Kasdorf had 3,291 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, and completed an impressive 69 percent of his passes. He will have the luxury of working behind an offensive line with four starters back. Gottschalk, who is a highly rated college prospect, was an All-CIF tackle last season while Munyer and Sulk both earned all-league recognition. Scat back Boggs ran for over 1,000 yards and scored 19 touchdowns. The defense has only four returning starters (Swinson, Kimble, Nelson and Ruballo), but all received all-league accolades in ’08.
