PrepNation 101 Preseason Countdown: No. 50 Hazelwood Central

PrepNation.com continues the most comprehensive package of preseason high school football rankings ever published. We are counting down the PrepNation 101 Preseason High School Football Rankings, from No. 101 to No. 26, leading up to the release of the official preseason National Prep Poll on August 3.

50. Hazelwood Central (Florissant, Mo.)
Last season: 12-2, Class 6 state champion
Coach: Richard Nixon
Key players: QB Kerry Gibson (6-3, 185, Sr.), LB Yomi Alli (6-1, 205, Sr.), LB Courtland Dunlop (6-1, 210, Jr.), LB-RB A.J. Chappelle (6-5, 195, Jr.), DB Brian Walker (5-11, 185, Sr.)
Outlook: With 16 total starters returning, the Hawks are in strong position to repeat as Missouri’s large-school state champion. Gibson had an outstanding junior season, racking up over 2,000 passing yards and 800 rushing yards with 32 total touchdowns. The defense should be extremely tough with leading tackler Alli, Dunlop, and Chappelle forming an athletic and tough trio at linebacker. Walker brings experience and talent to the secondary, where he had 103 tackles and eight interceptions last season.
