PrepNation 101 Preseason Countdown: No. 51 Garland continues the most comprehensive package of preseason high school football rankings ever published. We are counting down the PrepNation 101 Preseason High School Football Rankings, from No. 101 to No. 26, leading up to the release of the official preseason National Prep Poll on August 3.

51. Garland (Texas)
Last season: 11-2, lost in third round of Class 5A/I playoffs
Coach: Jeff Jordan
Key players: WR Adrian Phillips (5-11, 195, Sr.), QB Jared Barnett (6-1, 190, Sr.), LB Tevin Jackson (6-2, 220, Sr.), S Tyhre Ivery (6-0, 160, Sr.), OL Raymundo Mendoza (5-9, 195, Sr.), OL Moshood Adeniji (6-2, 240, Sr.), DT Jeremiah Edwards (6-1, 275, Sr.)
Outlook: The Owls have enough talent and experience to make a serious run at their first state championship since 1999. There are six returning starters on offense, beginning with Barnett. The Iowa St. recruit threw for 1,216 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior. His top target is reigning district MVP Phillips. The future Texas Longhorn accounted for over 2,000 combined passing, receiving, and rushing yards last season. Jackson leads a defense that has five veterans in the starting lineup. Jackson, also a Texas recruit, had 94 tackles and seven sacks. Edwards, a Kansas pledge, anchors the Owls’ defensive interior.
