PrepNation 101 Preseason Countdown: No. 40 Camden County

PrepNation.com continues the most comprehensive package of preseason high school football rankings ever published. We are counting down the PrepNation 101 Preseason High School Football Rankings, from No. 101 to No. 26, leading up to the release of the official preseason National Prep Poll on August 3.

40. Camden County (Kingsland, Ga.)
Last season: 15-0, Class 5A state champion
Coach: Jeff Herron
Key players: WR-DB Steven Murphy (6-2, 180, Sr.), RB-DB Ean Days (6-1, 195, Sr.), OT Luke Mercier (6-3, 280, Sr.), DE Matt Jackson (6-3, 240, Sr.), DE Derek Salisbury (6-4, 245, Sr.), RB Jamarie Sanders (5-10, 180, Jr.)
Outlook: Five starters return on both sides of the ball for the Wildcats, who won their third state championship in 10 years last season. The strength of the team will be Herron’s vaunted Wing-T offensive attack. The top leading rusher is Days, who averaged over six yards per carry last season. Murphy is an excellent athlete and is poised for a big senior season. The defensive linemen should be the strength of Camden’s 3-5-3 alignment. Jackson, who led the team in sacks, and Salisbury are both Division I prospects.
