PrepNation 101 Preseason Countdown: No. 38 Dwyer

PrepNation.com continues the most comprehensive package of preseason high school football rankings ever published. We are counting down the PrepNation 101 Preseason High School Football Rankings, from No. 101 to No. 26, leading up to the release of the official preseason National Prep Poll on August 3.

38. Dwyer (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.)
Last season: 12-2, Class 4A state semifinalist
Coach: Jack Daniels
Key players: RB-LB Matt Elam (5-10, 210, Sr.), FB-LB Gerald Christian (6-3, 230, Sr.), CB-WR Robert Clark (5-9, 165, Sr.), DT Michael Fleurizard (6-1, 280, Sr.), TE Nick O’Leary (6-4, 215, Jr.), DE Curt Maggitt (6-4, 210, Jr.), QB Jacoby Brissett (6-4, 225, Jr.)
Outlook: Dwyer appears to have the team to beat in Class 4A this season. Seven offensive and eight defensive starters return for the Panthers, who are seeking their first state championship despite making 10 consecutive playoff appearances. Elam, a Florida recruit, is the most heralded player on the roster. He is a phenomenal physical specimen who is a big-time hitter on defense and a productive ball carrier when he lines up at running back. Fellow Gators recruit Christian had 45 catches out of the backfield last season and made 75 tackles on defense. West Virginia commit Clark also played both ways, accounting for nearly 800 yards receiving and making 43 tackles at cornerback.
