PrepNation 101 Preseason Countdown: No. 37 West Monroe

PrepNation.com continues the most comprehensive package of preseason high school football rankings ever published. We are counting down the PrepNation 101 Preseason High School Football Rankings, from No. 101 to No. 26, leading up to the release of the official preseason National Prep Poll on August 3.

37. West Monroe (La.)
Last season: 13-1, Class 5A state runner-up
Coach: Don Shows
Key players: OT Dillon Day (6-4, 250, Sr.), OL Andrew Bryan (6-2, 300, Sr.), OL Wayne Hendricks (6-2, 250, Sr.), DE Jordan Allen (6-6, 250, Sr.), S Robert Lay (6-0, 205, Sr.), CB Vincent Bell (5-8, 160, Sr.), DB Samer Mahgoub (6-0, 190, Sr.)
Outlook: The Rebels fell one win shy of winning their seventh state championship in 20 seasons, losing to nationally ranked Destrehan, 14-3, in the final. With a strong group of seniors returning, they might be the favorite this season. Up front, the Rebels have three veteran linemen who are Division I prospects. The defensive front features Allen, who is committed to LSU. There is also great talent and skill in the secondary with Division I prospects Lay, Bell, and Mahgoub returning.
