PrepNation 101 Preseason Countdown: No. 69 Alta

PrepNation.com continues the most comprehensive package of preseason high school football rankings ever published. We are counting down the PrepNation 101 Preseason High School Football Rankings, from No. 101 to No. 26, leading up to the release of the official preseason National Prep Poll on August 3.

69. Alta (Sandy, Utah)
Last season: 13-1, Class 5A state champion
Coach: Les Hamilton
Key players: LB A’i Ho-Ching (6-0, 215, Sr.), OT Jordan Black (6-6, 245, Sr.), LB Parker Hausknecht (6-2, 215, Sr.), QB Jordan Brown (6-2, 180, Sr.), OL Lundon Smith (6-3, 250, Sr.), WR Zack Liston (6-0, 180, Sr.)
Outlook: Alta, the two-time defending 5A state titlist, will be hard-pressed to hold off region rival Bingham in its quest for a three-peat. Last year the Hawks were only a 7-point road loss to eventual California state champion Sacramento Grant away from a perfect season. Only five full-time starters are back from that team, led by all-state LB Ho-Ching. Another strong and experienced defender is Hausknecht, a Utah St. recruit. The offensive line is led by returning left tackle Black, who has pledged to BYU. Brown takes over behind center after seeing action as a backup last season.
