Lauderdale, Fla., St. Thomas Aquinas flexed its muscles on opening night with an
impressive 38-7 blowout of then-No. 11 Plantation, Fla., American Heritage on
FOX Sports Net. Senior running back Jordan Scarlett (a Miami recruit) led the
Raiders with 133 rushing yards and three touchdowns. ... No. 3 Las Vegas,
Bishop Gorman claimed its 21st win over an out-of-state opponent in the last
seven seasons with a come-from-behind 48-27 win over then-No. 24 Anaheim,
Calif., Servite. Trailing 7-6 late in the first half, sophomore quarterback
Tate Martell came off the bench to spark the Gaels, running for 110 yards and
throwing for 152 yards and three touchdowns. ... Senior quarterback Kyler
Murray (Texas A&M) passed for 393 yards and rushed for 106 with six total
touchdowns as No. 4 Allen, Texas, opened the year with a 55-41 win against then
regionally-ranked Denton, Texas, Guyer. ... No. 11 Moultrie, Ga., Colquitt County
entered the national poll after throttling then-No. 12 Hoover, Ala., 35-14.
Colquitt County is coached by Rush Propst, who guided Hoover to five state
championships from 2000-05. The loss dropped Hoover’s record to 0-2 for the
first time since 1994. ... What was tied for the longest active winning streak
in the nation (for 11-man teams) ended when Solon, Iowa, converted a two-point
conversion in overtime to clip Iowa City, Iowa, Regina, 29-28. The Regals had
won a state-record 56 straight games since 2009. The longest win streak now
belongs solely to Ithaca, Mich., which drilled Clare, Mich., 38-13, for its 57th
straight victory last Friday.

PrepNation.com was originally launched August 1, 2001 by Jamie DeMoney for the purpose of creating a permanent online home for the National Prep Poll football and boys basketball rankings.
The National Prep Poll is the only high school poll distributed to newspapers and websites around the United States by the Associated Press.
Among the criteria used in the weekly compilation of the National Prep Poll rankings are strength of schedule, the ability to accomplish the ultimate goal on a team's schedule (i.e. winning a championship), impact players and performers, a team's coaching and recent tradition.
