     FEATS OF THE WEEK: Preseason No. 1 Santa Ana, Calif., Mater Dei earned its first win of the year against a current Top 25 team. McDonald’s All-American forward Stanley Johnson (an Arizona recruit) scored 27 points to lead the now-No. 2 Monarchs to a 69-57 home win over No. 8 Chicago, Whitney Young in the Nike Extravaganza. Duke-bound senior forward Jahlil Okafor -- who was also named to the McDonald’s team last week -- led Whitney Young with 21 points. ... In other Nike Extravaganza action, senior forward Deontae North (Long Beach St.) had 19 points for No. 20 Corona, Calif., Centennial in a 67-60 win against regionally-ranked Redondo Beach, Calif., Redondo Union. Senior guard Corey Henson (Wagner) scored 33 points to lead regionally-ranked Hyattsville, Md., DeMatha to a 61-56 overtime win over regionally-ranked Los Angeles, Westchester. ... Senior forward Mike Morsell (uncommitted) scored 21 points to lift No. 12 Washington, St. John’s to a 71-68 win at Washington Catholic Athletic Conference rival No. 10 Fairfax, Va., Paul VI. ... No. 17 Jacksonville, Fla., Arlington Country Day picked up its second win in as many weeks versus a current or former Top 25 opponent. Sophomore guard Lamonte Turner netted 22 points as the Apaches beat No. 18 Mouth of Wilson, Va., Oak Hill, 62-53, in a game played in Beckley, W.Va. ... Seton Hall-bound senior guard Khadeen Carrington scored 24 points -- pushing his career total over 2,000 -- as regionally-ranked Brooklyn, Bishop Loughlin slipped past rival Middle Village, N.Y., Christ the King, 76-74.

About the National Prep Poll: Compiled weekly weekly since 1987 and distributed by World Features Syndicate and the Associated Press, the National Prep Poll is the nation's second oldest weekly high school sports rankings. Doug Huff compiled the rankings from 1987 until 1999. Jamie DeMoney has compiled the poll since the start of the 1999 basketball season to the present.

Among the criteria used in the weekly compilation of the National Prep Poll rankings are strength of schedule, the ability to accomplish the ultimate goal on a team's schedule (i.e. winning a championship), impact players and performers, a team's coaching and recent tradition.
