OF THE WEEK: USC-bound forward Roschon Prince scored 19 points and
Oregon-committed big man Jordan Bell added 14 to lead No. 7 Long
Beach, Calif., Poly to a 51-40 win against Plano, Texas, East in the
championship of the Whataburger Tournament in Haltom City, Texas. It
was the seventh straight game outside California for the Jackrabbits,
who finished in third place a week earlier at the City of Palms
Classic in Fort Myers, Fla. ... No. 21 Lake Oswego, Ore., entered the
national poll after crushing regionally ranked Portland, Jesuit,
62-43, for the championship of the Les Schwab Invitational in
Hillsboro, Ore. Calvin Hermanson (Saint Mary's-Cal) led Lake Oswego
with 20 points. ... Regionally ranked Minneapolis, De La Salle
breezed to a pair of wins at the Mike Miller Classic at the Corn
Palace in Mitchell, S.D. Standout junior forward Reid Travis led the
Islanders with 35 points in an 83-61 rout of White River, S.D., and
34 points in a 72-62 win against Centereach, N.Y., Our Savior New
American. ... Senior guard Anders Broman of Duluth, Lakeview
Christian became Minnesota's all-time scoring leader. Broman, a S.
Dakota St. recruit, had 42 points in a 100-87 win against Aurora,
Mesabi East, boosting his career total to 4,122 points.
