FEATS OF THE WEEK: The Cancer Research Classic in Wheeling, W.Va., hosted eight nationally or regionally ranked teams in a one-day, six-game showcase event. The top matchups included a Top-25 showdown with No. 3 Hyattsville, Md., DeMatha running past No. 11 Philadelphia, Neumann-Goretti, 62-47. Junior standouts Jairus Lyles and BeeJay Anya each had 17 points for DeMatha, according to MaxPreps.com. ... Also at the Cancer Research Classic, highly touted junior Jabari Parker scored 20 points to lead No. 2 Chicago, Simeon to a 59-56 win over preseason No. 2-ranked Lithonia, Ga., Miller Grove. Meanwhile, Alex Mitola (committed to Dartmouth) scored 20 as regionally ranked Gladstone, N.J., Gill St. Bernard upset No. 12 Santa Ana, Calif., Mater Dei, 76-73 in overtime. ... Regionally ranked Highland, Utah, Lone Peak improved to 6-1 against out-of-state opponents when it crushed then-No. 16 Brooklyn, Lincoln, 90-63, at the Brandon Jennings Invitational in Milwaukee. Junior Nick Emery (BYU) led Highland with 31 points, according to the Provo Daily Herald. ... According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Brooklyn Park, Prairie Seeds Academy set the Minnesota single-game scoring record with a 165-37 rout of Woodbury, Math & Science. Prairie Seeds led 91-19 at halftime. ... Junior standout Stephen Clark of Oklahoma City, Douglass had 65 points in his team’s 106-92 loss to Bossier City, La., Airline at the Bossier Invitational. ... Senior A.J. Moutry of McKinney, Texas, scored 54 to lead a 97-94 double-overtime win over Richardson, Pearce.
