PrepNation 101 Preseason Countdown: No. 19 Prattville

PrepNation.com continues the most comprehensive package of preseason high school football rankings ever published. We are counting down the PrepNation 101 Preseason High School Football Rankings, from No. 101 to No. 26, leading up to the release of the official preseason National Prep Poll on August 3.

19. Prattville (Ala.)
Last season: 13-1, Class 6A state champion
Coach: Jamey DuBose
Key players: QB Sam Gibson (6-2, 205, Sr.), S Nick Perry (6-2, 190, Sr.), WR Cornelius Fenderson (6-3, 175, Sr.), DL Josh Sinson (6-2, 215, Sr.), LB Qushaun Lee (5-11, 220, Sr.), DB Cedric Smith (5-10, 170, Sr.), WR Corey Shelton (5-6, 150, Sr.)
Outlook: Seven starters return on offense and six on defense for the Lions, who have won three consecutive 6A titles and 43 of their last 44 games overall. The guy who makes the offense go is Gibson, an LSU recruit who had total more than 1,000 passing and 500 rushing yards as a junior. Shelton is a lethal offensive weapon that comes in a small package. Though he stands just 5-foot-6, the rivals.com 3-star recruit has blazing 4.3 speed in the 40. Stinson, Lee and Smith have the most experience coming into the season on a defense that history tells us should be very good. Only twice in the last three seasons have the Lions allowed an opponent to score more than 20 points.
