PrepNation 101 Preseason Countdown: No. 26 Miami Central

PrepNation.com continues the most comprehensive package of preseason high school football rankings ever published. We are counting down the PrepNation 101 Preseason High School Football Rankings, from No. 101 to No. 26, leading up to the release of the official preseason National Prep Poll on August 3.

26. Central (Miami)
Last season: 8-4, lost in second round of Class 6A playoffs
Coach: Telly Lockette
Key players: QB Jeffrey Godfrey (6-0, 190, Sr.), RB Brandon Gainer (6-0, 205, Sr.), WR Joshua Reese (6-1, 183, Sr.), OL Jose’ Jose’ (6-3, 335, Sr.), LB Derrick Dansby (6-1, 200, Sr.), WR Charles Gaines (5-11, 170, Jr.)
Outlook: The Rockets have the firepower to challenge nationally ranked rival Miami Northwestern on the road to 6A supremacy. In Godfrey, Central returns one of the nation’s top-rated QB prospects. A starter since his freshman year at Miami Edison, Godfrey posted more than 2,000 passing yards last year. Reese and Gaines are part of a top-notch receiving corps. The two combined for more than 1,500 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns in ’08. Gainer is an explosive running back who had 1,644 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. The arrival of Booker T. Washington transfer Jose’, a Tennessee recruit, should make Central’s offensive line one of the best in South Florida. All-county middle linebacker Dansby anchors a defense that must take its game to the next level in order for the Rockets to avoid another premature exit from the postseason.

central is so good that they can be NO # 1 on the poll, but little things every year cut them short. this year we hope that the right formula is put together at right time so they can finish what been a nightmare for them. The bulls would be the team they have to beat and they should get a title .
