PrepNation 101 Preseason Countdown: No. 21 Centennial

PrepNation.com continues the most comprehensive package of preseason high school football rankings ever published. We are counting down the PrepNation 101 Preseason High School Football Rankings, from No. 101 to No. 26, leading up to the release of the official preseason National Prep Poll on August 3.

21. Centennial (Peoria, Ariz.)
Last season: 14-0, Class 5A/II champion
Coach: Richard Taylor
Key players: OT Nick Rowland (6-5, 300, Sr.), OL-DL Dylan Lusk (6-2, 305, Sr.), LB Austin Arias (6-0, 225, Sr.), QB Dain McFarland (6-0, 185, Sr.), LB Austin Garday (6-0, 205, Sr.), OL Junior Nieves (6-3, 305, Sr.), WR Matt Baugh (6-1, 182, Sr.), DB Kyle Coffey (5-10, 175, Sr.), RB Jebron Harrington (5-10, 195, Jr.)
Outlook: The Grand Canyon State has come to fear the Coyotes, who have won three consecutive state titles and 41 of their last 42 games. This year’s team should be particularly strong on offense, where three starting offensive linemen are back on duty. The leader of the group is Rowland, an all-state selection last year with several Pac-10 scholarship offers. Starting QB McFarland is also back after throwing for close to 1,900 yards and 18 touchdowns last season. Stepping in to replace graduated all-state RB John Hughes will be Harrington, who averaged over seven yards per carry in limited action as a sophomore. UNLV recruit Arias and three-year starter Garady are the top players back on defense. The Coyotes open the season August 22 against defending Nevada 4A champion Reno McQueen.

Harrington isn't replacing John Hughes. His younger brother Anthony is. Jebron plays fullback.

The backup running backs will be Tevin Ray and Vegas Johnson and both should get plenty of yards running the ball to close out games.
