PrepNation 101 Preseason Countdown: No. 81 Oceanside

PrepNation.com continues the most comprehensive package of preseason high school football rankings ever published. We are counting down the PrepNation 101 Preseason High School Football Rankings, from No. 101 to No. 26, leading up to the release of the official preseason National Prep Poll on August 3.

81. Oceanside (Calif.)
Last season: 12-0-1, CIF-SD Division II champion
Coach: John Carroll
Key players: DL-OL Thomas Molesi (6-2, 280, Sr.), DB-WR Jeremy Whittaker (5-10, 170, Sr.), LB Jake Fely (5-10, 200, Sr.), SS-RB Rene Siluano (5-10, 190, Sr.)
Outlook: Seven starters return on each side of the ball for Oceanside, which enters the season with a 25-game unbeaten streak. The Pirates appear to be equally talented in the trenches and at the skill positions. Up front, the leader is Molesi, an Oregon St. recruit who earned All-CIF accolades last season. An outstanding secondary is anchored by Whittaker (Arizona) and Siluano (San Diego St.). The leading returning tackler is Fely, another San Diego St. recruit, who had 138 stops. Carroll says playing for a second state bowl division championship title in three seasons isn’t out of the question if an effective replacement for departed QB Jordan Wynn (Utah) can be developed.
