PrepNation 101 Preseason Countdown: No. 62 Kahuku

PrepNation.com continues the most comprehensive package of preseason high school football rankings ever published. We are counting down the PrepNation 101 Preseason High School Football Rankings, from No. 101 to No. 26, leading up to the release of the official preseason National Prep Poll on August 3.

62. Kahuku (Hawaii)
Last season: 10-2, Division I state semifinalist
Coach: Reggie Torres
Key players: DT Kona Schwenke (6-4, 230, Sr.), DT Hauoli Jamora (6-2, 225, Sr.), DT Veteson Sauni (5-11, 250, Sr.), LB Ben Mamea (6-0, 200, Jr.), QB Sage Kaka (6-1, 180, Sr.), OL Jase Toomalatai (6-1, 275, Sr.)
Outlook: The Red Raiders are armed with eight returning starters in their quest for a sixth state championship this decade. If the adage is true that great defenses are built from the inside out, Kahuku’s could be special. The defensive line features a pair of BYU recruits in Schwenke and Jamora. At linebacker, Mamea is a junior who has a chance to be special.
