PrepNation 101 Preseason Countdown: No. 57 Evangel Christian

PrepNation.com continues the most comprehensive package of preseason high school football rankings ever published. We are counting down the PrepNation 101 Preseason High School Football Rankings, from No. 101 to No. 26, leading up to the release of the official preseason National Prep Poll on August 3.

57. Evangel Christian (Shreveport, La.)
Last season: 13-2 (one win by forfeit), Class 2A state runner-up
Coach: John Bachman
Key players: WR Eric Thomas (6-3, 195, Sr.), WR Thomas Bridgewater (6-0, 180, Sr.), DE Brandon Jackson (6-4, 260, Sr.), DE Jermauria Rasco (6-4, 270, Jr.), QB David Dee Duron (5-10, 160, Jr.), OL Gene Glenn (5-11, 256, Sr.), LB Deonte Thompson (6-3, 205, Sr.)
Outlook: The one-time National Prep Poll champion (1999) has been known for traditionally having one of the most prolific offenses in high school football. But the strength of this year’s team might be the defense, where three Division I prospects will line up in the front seven. Jackson, a Texas A&M recruit, and Rasco are handful to prepare for at the end positions. At linebacker, Thompson is a great athlete. As always, the wide-open Evangel passing game should thrive with Duron throwing to experienced pass catchers in Thomas and Bridgewater. All three of Evangel’s on-field losses last season were against teams that finished ranked in the national Top 50 by PrepNation.
