Week 9 National Prep Basketball Poll released

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- For the seventh consecutive week, the top three teams in the National Prep Basketball Poll remained the same.

All three squads participated in the HoopHall Classic in Springfield, Mass., over the holiday weekend, including Monday's ESPNU-televised matchup between top-ranked Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) and regionally ranked Whitney Young (Chicago).

No. 2 Oak Hill (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) won its HoopHall matchup on Saturday, defeating regionally ranked South Atlanta (Atlanta), 63-58.

In another Monday afternoon ESPNU telecast, No. 3 St. Benedict's (Newark, N.J.) was scheduled to meet regionally ranked Wheeler (Marietta, Ga.).

Keep an eye out for #24 Holmes out of Covington, KY.

Don't be surprised to see them make their way in to the top 15 within the next 3 weeks.

They have 3 High Major D1 prospects in 6'7 F Elijah Pittman, 6'5 G Ricardo Johnson, and 6'4 G Jeremiah Johnson. (Twin brother of Ricardo) All three are only juniors.

Everyone watch out for the Hopewell (EC #7) team from Charlotte, NC. They have already beat Vance (EC #10) and have 4 D1 prospects in 6'1" G Brandyn Curry (Harvard), 6'2" G Alex Godette (Army), 6'5" G Jordan Downing and 6'6" F DeMon Brooks. I've seen them play a couple of times and you won't find a team in NC that plays harder defensively. They lack a little size but beat a team, that has three guys 6'7" or taller who are all going D1, by 14.
