Week 6 National Prep Basketball Poll released

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Southern California powerhouse Mater Dei (Santa Ana) stated loud and clear its case for the No. 1 ranking in the National Prep Poll last week by winning the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Fla.

The Monarchs, whose entire starting five are committed to Division I colleges, knocked off three current or formerly ranked teams in the tournament, including No. 4 St. Patrick (Elizabeth, N.J.), 52-45 in the championship game.

Meanwhile, six-time Prep Poll champion Oak Hill (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) moved up one spot in the rankings to No. 2 after it won the Iolani Classic in Honolulu for the fifth time in the 25-year history of the event. The Warriors beat a pair of Top 15 teams, including No. 5 Montrose Christian, 74-62 (2OT), in the championship game.
