PrepNation 101 Preseason FB Countdown: No. 26 Crespi

26. Crespi Carmelite (Encino, Calif.)
Last season’s record: 11-3, CIF Southern Section Pac-5 runner-up
Coach: Jeremiah Ross
Key players: QB Brian Bennett (6-3, 175, Jr.), RB Jeremiah McKibbins (5-8, 175, Sr.), WR Miko Island (6-0, 165, Sr.), WR Kevin Cummings (6-2, 175, Sr.), WR Blake Stanton (6-0, 190, Jr.), LB Chris Carter (5-8, 200, Sr.), LB Khalil Bass (6-1, 205, Sr.), LB/DB Lucky Radley (5-10, 175, Sr.), OL Hroniss Grasu (6-3, 245, Jr.), OL Ben Loth (6-5, 270, Jr.), OL Mike Mitchell (6-4, 265, Jr.), RB Rhasheed Johnson (5-10, 195, So.), WR Reginald Coates (6-2, 210, So.)
Biggest strength: Offensive skill positions, team speed
Question mark: Defensive line and secondary
Outlook: The Celts must replace seven players who earned scholarships but still have five starters returning on each side of the ball. Bennett returns at quarterback after performing admirably as a sophomore, throwing for 2,133 yards and 17 touchdowns. There is speed to burn at all the offensive skill positions, with three Division I prospects – Cummings, Island and Stanton -- manning the receiver spots. McKibbins might share carries with Johnson, an exceptional talent who could make an impact as a sophomore. The offensive line features a pair of returning all-league picks in Grasua and Loth. The strength of the defense is at linebacker, where all-league performers Carter and Radley will team with Village Christian transfer Bass to form a fast and athletic trio.
Toughest games: Aug. 30 at Layton (Utah) Northridge, Sept. 12 vs. 76 Birmingham, Sept. 19 vs. Servite, Sept. 26 at No. 61 St. Bonaventure, Oct. 31 vs. No. 86 Notre Dame

I hope to see more of Mikio Island. He appears to be the fatest kid on the Crespi Squad. It is a shame that a kid with that kind of talent has not been utilized.
