PrepNation 101 Preseason FB Countdown: No. 27 Naples

27. Naples (Fla.)

Last season’s record: 15-0, Class 3A champion

Coach: Bill Kramer

Key players: FB Carlos Hyde (6-1, 235, Sr.), RB Greg Pratt (5-9, 170, Sr.), OT Nick Alajajian (6-3, 280, Sr.), DT Josh Elizondo (6-2, 280, Sr.), QB Juno Prudhomm (6-0, 200, Sr.), OL George Davilla (6-2, 285, Sr.), WR Derek Delgado (5-10, 175, Sr.), LB Jose Davila (5-10, 185, Jr.), TE Cole Gordon (6-6, 215, Sr.), WR Tay Sanders (6-2, 215, Sr.), DB Cameron Schlagel (6-1, 175, Jr.)

Biggest strength: Experience on offense

Question mark: Inexperience on defense

Outlook: The Golden Eagles look like a team ready to steamroll toward a repeat state championship. Several key figures are back from the ’07 squad, which outscored opponents by an average of 39-8. It includes Ohio State-bound fullback Hyde, who ran for nearly 1,000 yards with 13 touchdowns. He also helped open holes for Pratt, a speedster who had 1,449 yards -- averaging 9 yards per carry -- and 17 touchdowns. The offensive line is in good shape with Florida recruit Alajajian and Davilla returning to duty. Prudhomm is ready to lead the offense after getting valuable experience in last year’s playoffs. The only cause for concern might be on defense, where there is plenty of talent but limited experience. Only Elizondo, who can bench press 370 pounds, saw starting duty on that side of the ball last season.

Toughest games: Sept. 5 vs. Monsignor Pace, Sept. 26 at Immokalee
