PrepNation 101 Preseason FB Countdown: No. 22 Rockhurst

Key players: QB Nathan Scheelhaase (6-3, 195, Sr.), WR/DB Keith Langtry (6-2, 180, Sr.), OL/DL Tom Freeman (6-3, 272, Sr.), DB/RB Sal Belfonte (5-10, 195, Jr.), RB/LB Billy Linscott (5-10, 200, Sr.), RB Christopher Castelluccio (5-9, 186, Sr.), DE Dan Tapko (6-4, 205, So.)
Biggest strength: Experience at QB, RB and LB positions
Question mark: Inexperience at OL and DL
Outlook: Eight starters return – four on each side of the ball -- from Rockhurst’s third state championship team this decade. Illinois-bound quarterback Scheelhaase, a varsity player since his freshman year, returns after becoming the first 11th grader to ever win the Simone Award, given to the Kansas City area’s player of the year. He had 1,861 passing yards and 917 rushing yards with 34 touchdowns last season. Langtry was the team’s leading receiver, catching 43 passes for 820 yards and 11 touchdowns. Running back duties will be split three ways between Belfonte, Linscott and Castelluccio. Belfonte, a starter since his freshman year, is an impact player who led the team in tackles at linebacker and had more than 1,000 yards in kickoff and punt returns.
