THREE AND OUT
The top three storylines, news, notes and milestones from the week that was in high school football.

Team of the Week
Edna Karr (New Orleans) vaulted from just outside last week’s regionally ranks to No. 25 in the latest national poll after beating then-regionally ranked Neville (Monroe), 34-21, for the Louisiana 4A championship. It snapped Neville’s 39-game winning streak and avenged Karr’s loss to the Tigers in last year’s championship game.

Worth Noting
Preseason No. 1 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) moved back into the Top 10 after crushing previously unbeaten Plant (Tampa), 45-6, for its third straight Class 7A state crown. The No. 8 Raiders now have seven state championship in the last 10 years. … The Woodlands (Texas) jumped 14 spots to No. 6 after eliminating No. 10 Allen with a 36-28 win the Class 6A-I state semifinals. On Saturday, the Highlanders will play in the state championship game for the first time since 2003. … No. 7 St. Joseph’s Prep (Philadelphia) is up four spots following its 42-7 blowout of regionally ranked Pittsburgh Central Catholic in Pennsylvania’s first-ever Class 6A title game. It’s the Hawks’ third state crown in four years. … Grayson (Loganville, Ga.) moved up three positions to No. 5 after beating No. 13 Roswell, 23-20 in overtime for the Georgia Class 7A championship. … Regionally ranked Dutch Fork (Irmo, S.C.) continues to lurk just outside the national Top 25. The unbeaten Silver Foxes earned a trip to the Class 5A championship game with their second win this season against regionally ranked Fort Dorchester (Charleston).

For the Record
Trinity Christian HS (Jacksonville, Fla.) tied a state record by winning its fourth consecutive state title. The Conquerors downed Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood), 24-13, in the Class 3A final. … K’Hari Lane of Macon County (Montezuma, Ga.) become his state’s record-holder for touchdown passes in a season. The senior threw four touchdown passes in a 35-0 rout of McIntosh County (Darien) for the Class A-Public state championship game and ended the year with a record 56. … Ansonia added to its record for most state championships in Connecticut history. The Chargers downed Rocky Hill, 28-21, in the Class S finals for state crown No. 20.

About the PrepNation National Prep Poll
The PrepNation National Prep Poll is a continuation of World Feature Syndicate’s National Prep Poll, which was published and distributed to the Associated Press and other news organizations from 1987 to 2015.

The National Prep Poll is second only to the USA Today Super 25 as the longest continually published weekly high school rankings. While a product of World Features Syndicate (1987-2015), the National Prep Poll was the only high school poll distributed to newspapers and websites around the United States by the Associated Press.

Before authoring rankings for Student Sports and ESPN, National High School Sports Hall of Fame journalist Doug Huff compiled the National Prep Poll rankings from 1987 until 1999. Current author Jamie DeMoney has compiled the poll since the start of the 1999 basketball season to the present.

Among the criteria used in the weekly compilation of the National Prep Poll rankings are strength of schedule, the ability to accomplish the ultimate goal on a team's schedule (i.e. winning a championship), impact players and performers, a team's coaching and recent tradition.
