school football.
Team
of the Week
No.
2 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) made its second trip of the season to Southern
California and came home with a 34-0 shutout of traditional power Long Beach

Worth
Noting
Top-ranked
Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) extended its in-state winning streak to 81 games with
a 56-0 drubbing of Durango (Las Vegas). The Gaels have outscored five Nevada
opponents by a combined score of 296-13 this season. … No. 4 Allen (Texas)
scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to avoid being upset by Plano
East, 38-31. The comeback win extended the Eagles’ regular-season unbeaten
streak to 44 games. They haven’t lost a district game since 2010. … No. 25 John
Curtis Christian (River Ridge, La.) got its first ever win against fellow New
Orleans parochial power Archbishop Rummel (Metairie), 31-17. It was only the
fourth meeting all-time in the series. Rummel beat the Patriots twice last
season. The only other meeting was in 1964.
For
the Record
Senior
Zach Davis of Sheehan (Wallingford, Conn.) set not one but two single-game
state records during a 66-20 rout of Law (Milford). Davis ran for a record 541
yards and scored a record 10 touchdowns on 41 carries. … Senior Trent Johnson

totaled 418 yards in a 55-29 playoff win against Southeast Valley (Gowrie),
pushing his career total to 7,158 yards and counting. … In a season-ending
battle of 1-7 teams, Onaga (Kan.) crushed Valley Falls (Kan.), 114-68, in a
game that an 8-man state record for total points. Onaga senior quarterback
Logan Martin accounted for 14 of his team’s 15 touchdowns. Eight of Martin’s
nine touchdown passes were caught by Tyler Herrman, a total that also set a
state record. … Dakota Bridwell of Columbia Falls (Mont.) set his state’s
single-game record by throwing eight touchdown passes to lead a 55-14 playoff
win over Corvallis. Bridwell needs only two more touchdown throws to set a new
season record for touchdown passes.

About
the PrepNation National Prep Poll
The
PrepNation National Prep Poll is a continuation of World Feature Syndicate’s
National Prep Poll, which was published and distributed to the Associated Press
and other news organizations from 1987 to 2015.
The
National Prep Poll is second only to the USA Today Super 25 as the longest
continually published weekly high school rankings. While a product of World
Features Syndicate (1987-2015), the National Prep Poll was the only high school
poll distributed to newspapers and websites around the United States by the
Associated Press.
Before
authoring rankings for Student Sports and ESPN, National High School Sports
Hall of Fame journalist Doug Huff compiled the National Prep Poll rankings from
1987 until 1999. Current author Jamie DeMoney has compiled the poll since the
start of the 1999 basketball season to the present.
Among
the criteria used in the weekly compilation of the National Prep Poll rankings
are strength of schedule, the ability to accomplish the ultimate goal on a
team's schedule (i.e. winning a championship), impact players and performers, a
team's coaching and recent tradition.
