2 Oakland, Calif., Bishop O’Dowd opened the season with a 63-55 win over No. 8
Las Vegas, Bishop Gorman. Blue chip senior forward Ivan Rabb (uncommitted) dominated
the paint against Bishop Gorman’s talented front line, scoring 28 points with 20
rebounds. Bishop Gorman’s twin towers Stephen Zimmerman -- a highly-rated
uncommitted 7-foot senior -- and 6-foot-10 Duke commit Chase Jeter, had 14 and
10 points, respectively. ... Villanova-bound senior guard Jalen Brunson poured
in 20 points to lift No. 4 Lincolnshire, Ill., Stevenson to a 61-42 win over
Glen Ellyn, Ill., Glenbard West for the championship of the Lyons
Township/Hinsdale Central Thanksgiving tournament in Hinsdale, Ill. On the same
day, Stevenson’s regionally-ranked football team capped a 14-0 season with its
first state championship. ... Senior guard Marcus Evans (Rice) scored 26 points
to lead No. 18 Virginia Beach, Va., Cape Henry Collegiate to a 56-55 win over
Jacksonville, Fla., Potter’s House Christian for the championship of the
Tournament of Champions in Washington, Ill. ... Bentonville, Ark., entered the
regional rankings after an 86-77 win over regionally-ranked St. Louis,
Chaminade. Junior guard Malik Monk led the Tigers with 45 points. ... Sophomore
guard Gary Trent Jr. netted 42 points as regionally-ranked Apple Valley, Minn.,
crushed Minnetonka, Minn., 106-82.

The National Prep Poll is the only high school poll distributed to newspapers and websites around the United States by the Associated Press.
Among the criteria used in the weekly compilation of the National Prep Poll rankings are strength of schedule, the ability to accomplish the ultimate goal on a team's schedule (i.e. winning a championship), impact players and performers, a team's coaching and recent tradition.
