Week 9 National Prep Football Poll released

WAUKEE, Iowa -- An overall ho-hum batch of results for nationally ranked teams over the weekend resulted in only one team entering the Top 25. Clay-Chalkville (Pinson, Ala.) made its debut at No. 21 after an impressive win against previously unbeaten Shades Valley (Birmingham, Ala.). Concerning the Top 10, Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) remains No. 1 for the second straight week. Big story number one was: Paramus Catholic (N.J.) leaping 14 spots to No. 5 after knocking off then-No. 2 Don Bosco (Ramsey), 21-14. The Ironmen dropped to No. 8. Big story number two: St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) solidified its spot at No. 7 with a 28-25 win against Mater Dei (Santa Ana). The first loss of season dropped the Monarchs down one spot in the poll to No. 16.

Junior running back Ahmad Thomas led Paramus Catholic with two rushing touchdowns. ... No. 7 Bellflower, Calif., St. John Bosco extended its in-state winning streak to 18 with a 28-25 triumph over No. 16 Santa Ana, Calif., Mater Dei. St. John Bosco junior running back Sean McGrew ran for 119 yards and a touchdown. ... No. 21 Pinson, Ala., Clay-Chalkville entered the Top 25 after hammering previously-unbeaten Birmingham, Ala., Shades Valley, 59-27. Junior Tyrell Pigrome had 398 combined passing and rushing yards with five touchdowns for Clay-Chalkville. ...
