     FEATS OF THE WEEK: Second-ranked Montverde, Fla., Montverde Academy opened the season with a 74-57 win against defending 5A state champion Lake Wales. The star of the game was Montverde’s Dakari Johnson, a 6-10 senior, who scored 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. ... Duncanville, Texas, entered the national rankings at No. 24 after an impressive 8-0 start to the season. On Saturday, the host Panthers upset then-No. 9 Plano, Prestonwood Christian, 58-48, at the Thanksgiving Hoopfest. The previous weekend, Duncanville knocked off regionally ranked DeSoto, 55-42, in the championship game of the McDonald’s Texas Invitational in Pasadena. ... Joel Berry, who was named Florida Mr. Basketball last season as a sophomore, led No. 25 Orlando, Fla., Lake Highland Prep to a pair of wins on Thanksgiving weekend. The 6-1 point guard had 18 points in a 77-49 rout of Evans and poured in 38 to lead a 64-52 win against Dr. Phillips. ... Sophomore standout Andrew Fleming scored 49 points for Nashville, Tenn., Ensworth in a 100-95 overtime loss to Smyrna, Gabriel Christian. ... Eron Gordon, one of the nation’s top-rated freshmen, scored 31 points in his first varsity game. But it wasn’t enough for Indianapolis, North Central, which lost 82-77 to Indianapolis, Pike in a battle of state-ranked teams. Gordon is the brother of New Orleans Hornets guard Eric Gordon.
