FEATS OF THE WEEK: Henderson, Nev., Findlay assumed the top spot in the Prep Poll after beating then-No. 1 Flower Mound, Texas, Marcus, 47-39, in the Throwdown in D-Town event in Dallas. Findlay forward Anthony Bennett (uncommitted) had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Marcus, which had won its previous 42 games, was led by G Marcus Smart (Oklahoma St.) with 14 points. . . . According to the Orlando Sentinel, Orlando, Fla., Lake Highland Prep sophomore guard Joel Berry scored 49 points in the championship game of the Rotary Tip Off Classic in Winter Park. Berry, who was 16-of-19 from the floor, hit the game-winning basket in an 85-83 thriller over previously unbeaten Winter Garden, West Orange. West Orange got 36 points from senior Eric McCree (Murray St.). ... In a matchup of California powers for the championship of the Redondo Pacific Shores Tournament in Redondo Beach, No. 17 Los Angeles, Loyola upended regionally ranked Long Beach, Poly, 70-65. According to the Long Beach Press-Telegram, Poly forward Roschon Prince had 27 points in a losing effort and was named tournament MVP. Julian Harrell (Penn) led Loyola with 16 points. ... According to MaxPreps.com, Bryce Alford scored 44 points to lead Albuquerque, La Cueva past Albuquerque, Cibola, 78-74. Alford, a 6-foot-3 junior, is son of University of New Mexico coach Steve Alford.
