Week 6 National Prep Basketball Poll released

URBANDALE, Iowa -- Following bang-up performances at two of the nation's top holiday tournaments, Paterson Catholic (N.J.) and Neumann-Goretti (Philadelphia) entered the Top 10 of the weekly National Prep Basketball Poll released Monday.

Paterson Catholic leaped 15 spots from No. 23 to No. 8. The Cougars beat No. 11 Winter Park (Fla.), 62-54, for the championship of the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Fla.

Likewise, Philadelphia Catholic power Neumann-Goretti also moved up 15 spots from No. 24 to No. 9. The Saints defeated two ranked teams -- No. 19 Rockville, Md., Montrose Christian and regionally ranked Kinston, N.C. -- before losing a 97-96 thriller to No. 6 Yates (Houston) for the Iolani Classic championship in Honolulu.

Westlake (Atlanta) was the lone team entering the rankings this week. The No. 24 Lions defeated then-No. 18 Rice (New York) to win the Chick-fil-A Classic in Columbia, S.C.

I don't know why they fell out out but Peabody from Louisiana should definitely be back in. They are 22-0 and after winning they're 3rd tourney, looks like they're going to roll to an undefeated regular season.

How about Westview (Portland, OR) making it into the rankings? They beat two-time state champs Jefferson (holding Terrance Jones in check) and their only loss this season came in a very close game (Westview was leading after 3 quarters) against #2 Oak Hill Academy in the Les Schwab Invitational. Westview finished 3rd overall. Westview is the only team to lead Oak Hill after 3 quarters this season.

How did Milton, GA take third place in the City of Palms when Winter Park beat them in the Quarter-Finals. Benedict's beat Montverde for third place!

Webster Groves is the #1 ranked team in St Louis area, undefeated and yet you have Chaminade 6-1 and McCluer North ranked ahead of the statesmen. Webster just beat #2 team in St Louis to win Meramec Holiday tournament. What gives?
