Preaseason NPP Top 25: No. 6 Yates

6. Yates (Houston)
Last year:
34-1, Class 4A state champion
Coach: Greg Wise
Top players: G Joseph Young (6-2, Sr.); G Brandon Peters (6-0, Sr.); G Darius Gardner (5-9, Sr.); G Marshall Lange (5-10, Sr.); F Elton Roy (6-2, Sr.)
Top games: Dec. 17-22 at Iolani Classic (Honolulu); Dec. 29-30 at T-Mobile Invitational (Birmingham, Ala.).
Notable: All five starters return for the Lions, who enter the season on a 24-game winning streak. Each player averaged in double figures for a team that scored 95 points per game last year. Young (Providence) led the way at 19 points per contest. The obvious question mark is the team’s lack of size; but its quickness, depth, and experience is not in doubt.

Loyola of the 80's type offense with Arkansas ala Nolan Richardson type defense, however if you have good guard play you may be able to slow it down and keep it a 4th quarter game.

Because of quickness and shooters....quite possibly the best high school team in the country.
