Week 5 National Prep Football Poll

URBANDALE, Iowa -- Fresh off an impressive 27-7 defeat of perennial national power Long Beach (Calif.) Poly, St. Bonaventure (Ventura) enters this week's National Prep Poll Top 25 rankings.

Senior running back Devon Blackledge ran for 291 yards and three touchdowns to lead the No. 12 Seraphs, whose only loss since September 2007 is a 12-7 setback to Poly last season.

Jenks (Okla.) rejoins the national poll at No. 21 after defeating rival Tulsa Union, 27-25. The Trojans began the year ranked No. 12 before Oklahoma-bound receiver Jarrett Lake was ruled ineligible for the season.

No. 22 Stony Point (Round Rock, Texas) makes its first-ever appearance in the national rankings this week. The Tigers have several key players back from the team that reached the Class 5A/II state semifinals last season.

Rounding out the Top 25 this week is Washington D.C.-area power Good Counsel (Olney, Md.). The Falcons got a win at Valhalla (El Cajon, Calif.) to open the season then blanked city-ranked Mount St. Joseph (Baltimore), 42-0, in week two.

glad that de la salle lost and is out of the top 25, they didnt deserve to be there...they are no longer the dls of the past and are no longer the california "power"...i give them credit for playing a tough schedule but their reputation should not warrant a good ranking anymore

I dont understand how a cali team beats Poly and moves high into the rankings just cuz Poly a is "perennial" power. Katy comes back and shows a washington school what football is about and they dont move back in. what about the woodlands who beat Katy? or Southlake who is on fire? or a very good Longview team? Also i wish those Ok schools would come into tx and put it on line during the red river rivalry because when you beat the same team back and forth doesnt mean your a national contender. it is a joke to keep them in the rankings when all they do is play each other.

second anonymous...that cali team (st. bonaventure) is a back-to-back cal state championship team, who by the way is almost the same as last years team...second they have won i think 7 out of the last 9 cif titles and have won something like 118 out of last 125 games and have played the likes of long beach poly, lakewood, crespi, oaks christian, orange lutheran, hart, westlake, etc...that team is also ranked top 15 in the country in many national rankings...they deserve to be there

in fact its about time sb & servite are ranked above oaks christian...oaks is a good team but are very overrated, mainly because of the last name of their quarterback (montana), oaks has a weak schedule except skyline in washington (they continually duck out of playing top notch so. cal powers and only play teams when it is in their favor)...all oaks christian needs to do to get "california love" aka get credit from cali fball followers is to step up to the challenge and play "someone" in so. cal

Byrnes is ranked WHY

They are a AAAA team and have NOT played a AAAA team yet.

They beat AAA Gwinnett(0-3) has not won a game this year, beat AAA Myrtle Beach, beat AAA Greer (1-3), and beat small school AA Woodland (1-3)

Look at the killer schedule for Elder, St. Xavier, Moeller, ALL are division 1-A (largest schools) defeated several previous state champs from Ill, Indiana, KY. and all are UNDEFEATED.

The team schedules should matter not running up the score on a AA team with 3 losses.
