PrepNation 101 Preseason Countdown: No. 5 Glenville

PrepNation.com continues the most comprehensive package of preseason high school football rankings ever published. We are counting down the PrepNation 101 Preseason High School Football Rankings, from No. 101 to No. 26, leading up to the release of the official preseason National Prep Poll on August 3.

5. Glenville (Cleveland, Ohio)
Last season: 11-1, Region 1 semifinalist
Coach: Ted Ginn
Key players: DB-RB Latwan Anderson (5-11, 185, Sr.), DB-WR Christian Bryant (5-10, 175, Sr.), DE Jayrone Elliott (6-3, 215, Sr.), DE Terry Hasberry (6-2, 240, Sr.), LB Andre Sturdivant (6-2, 220, Jr.), DB-WR Aaron Morris (5-10, 195, Sr.), QB Cardale Jones (6-4, 195, Sr.), LB James Gordon (6-3, 195, Sr.), QB-WR Demetrious Craig (6-1, 180, Sr.), WR-DB Shane Wynn (5-9, 165, Jr.), OT Aundrey Walker (6-5, 295, Jr.)
Outlook: The Tarblooders split two games with eventual Division I champion St. Ignatius last season. Unfortunately for them, their loss in the series was an 8-7 heartbreaker in the playoffs. Talented senior and junior classes must step up to fill some big shoes left behind after eight players signed with Division I programs. Glenville’s secondary features a pair of national recruits in Anderson, a transfer from St. Edward, and Bryant, who can also line up at WR and QB. The defensive line has two outstanding pass rushers in Elliott and Hasberry. At linebacker, you will find one of the country’s top junior recruits in Sturdivant. On offense, the QB duties should fall to talented junior Jones, the backup last season. However, Nordonia transfer Craig will also be in the mix. Junior OT Walker has the look of a future blue chipper. The Tarblooders do not play a difficult conference schedule but will test themselves early on with three consecutive road games against No. 29 St. Ignatius, Reynoldsburg, and Region 4 contender Wayne (Huber Heights).
