PrepNation 101 Preseason Countdown: No. 64 Wheaton Warrenville South

PrepNation.com continues the most comprehensive package of preseason high school football rankings ever published. We are counting down the PrepNation 101 Preseason High School Football Rankings, from No. 101 to No. 26, leading up to the release of the official preseason National Prep Poll on August 3.

64. Wheaton Warrenville South (Wheaton, Ill.)
Last season: 8-2, lost in first round of Class 7A playoffs
Coach: Ron Muhitch
Key players: QB-WR Mack Tracey (6-1, 193, Sr.), K-OL Nick Immekus (6-0, 225, Sr.), OL Chris Cortopossi (6-2, 285, Sr.), OL Rocco Ammons (6-4, 300, Sr.), QB Reilly O’Toole (6-3, 205, Jr.), RB Julian Banuelos (5-10, 185, Sr.), TE Dan Hohenstein (6-6, 205, Sr.)
Outlook: Seven offensive starters return for the Tigers, who lost two games last season by a single point. Muhitch says his seniors and juniors have the talent and commitment required to challenge for a state championship game berth for the third time in four seasons. The starting QB position will go to either speedy slash/WR Tracey or to O’Toole, the starting point guard on WWS’ varsity basketball team. O’Toole played sophomore football last season. The offensive line, featuring Division I prospect Ammons, has good size and experience. On defense, there are only two returning starters. But that side of the ball is Muhitch’s specialty. He was defensive coordinator when the Tigers won four state championships in the 1990s.
