Preseason Top 25: No. 14 Scott County

14. Scott County (Georgetown, Ky.)
Coach: Billy Hicks (704-198, 27 seasons at Scott County)
2007-08 record: 20-12, Region 11 semifinalist
Top players: C Richie Phares (6-7), Sr.; F Dakota Euton (6-7), Jr.; F Chad Jackson (6-5), Jr.; G Austin Flannery (6-3), Jr.; G Ge-lawn Guyn (6-3), Jr.; G Tamron Manning (6-3), Fr.
Team strength: Size
Question mark: Chemistry
Toughest games: Dec. 6 vs. Duncanville (Texas) at Marshall County Hoopfest; Dec. 14 vs. Holmes; Feb. 14 at Lexington Catholic
Outlook: The Cardinals are a preseason favorite to capture their third state championship in 11 years. The team features three transfers including University of Kentucky-bound post Euton. As a sophomore at Rose Hill Christian (Ashland), Euton averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds. He is a physical player with advanced skills. Jackson, another Rose Hill Christian transfer, is an inside-outside scoring threat who averaged 20 points per game as a sophomore. Yet another transfer is Flannery, an excellent 3-point marksman who played last season at Boone County (Florence). There are also three key contributors who were at Scott County last year. The most experienced of the group of Phares, a hard-working post player. Guyn is a great competitor who is expected to start at point guard. Manning appears ready to emerge as one of the top freshman prospects in the country.

Two players I have seen play freshmen basketball for Scott County last year, James Happy and Kymble Harris, are two players I have seen every summer and season for Scott County. Happy, an aggressive post player, will be an interesting player to watch rise on this basketball team. Grabs rebouns with much aggresion and plays his heart out every game. It will also be very interesting to watch Harris grow as a player. Didn't see the floor alot this summer in Junior Varsity AAU ball, but as a freshmen scored easily and made the best of the opportunity he gets. I'm keeping my eye on him.

Harris is a 3-point marksmen . Don't leave him open

Harris can score easily. His scoring will be key for the Scott County JV team this season.

Trey Relford, Zach Bryant and Kymble Harris will need to take over the scoring roles this year. Relford & Harris especially. They can both score very well. Relford can drive and get to the line. Harris can drive and use a deadly spot up 3 pointer. Both offensive weapons.

Kymble Harris is a scorer. Had 23 points against Dunbar in the FIRST HALF! Incredible night for Harris. He is one of the best shooters the board has seen.
