I think you are underestimating Alta High School of Sandy, UT in your Midlands Region poll, they have been ahead by 35 points halfway through the first quarter of their last two games, yet you have dropped them from your top ten? Look at their strength of schedule, and their only loss (3pts) coming by the foot of a kicker who kicked 59, 53, 38 yard field goals. Give them what they deserve.

Err... there are plenty of teams who haven't lost though!

Jamie-
Out of curiosity, at what point do you think it would be possible for Cincinnati St. Xavier to pass Miami Northwestern?

In your original write-up on MNW taking the top spot you mentioned that St. X's SOS might enable them to retake the top spot. In this week's poll you mention how they have demolished much tougher opponents than MNW. Is it just a matter of more proof? Will it take another Top 25 win (like Cincinnati Colerain in the Ohio playoffs)? Or do you think the athleticism that MNW has shown is too much for St. X to overcome?

There is no way Birmingham or Notre Dame should be ranked ahead of Hart... Saugus should have smoked Notre Dame but lost on the last play of the game, Birmingham is 1 dimensional and they are high in the rankings for beating two overated teams Poly & Notre Dame. If Hart gets through Valencia and Saugus and heads into playoffs 10-0 there is no way they should be ranked below 5 on west coast. I can see DLS,MD,CC .. OLU is a toss up. Hart still has St Bonaventure in the playoffs and 1-2 more good teams with a possible state game with DLS.

Do you think that Byrnes SC will get back in the top 25 if they keep winning? If not, why? Thanks for all the info you give, it really keeps me up to date

Jamie,
Sorry, because I respect your opinion, but I again do not agree with this weeks rankings. Since, Northwestern replaced St. X (your pre-season No.1) at the top, you continue to say it's because they beat then No.1 Southlake Carroll. I take that to mean NW beat SLC, a team rated higher than any team St. X beat. OKAY, one game. Let's look at the top 2 teams NW and St. X played, then lets look at the top 3 teams, NW and St.X play etc. Bottom line: My opinion, it really does not matter what X does, because everyone THINKS NW is a better team, even though schedules show other-wise. Calpreps. SOS: St. Xavier 41.3; NW 13.9. Jamie, there comes a time when even you have to admit, the entire season schedule has to mean something. One win does not make a season, or maybe it does...

jamie..
Previous blogger has a point. Look at CalPreps. Nwest. beat # 33 TX. Southlake, the # 2347 FL. Homestead. Homestead is the 2nd. highest team they played (won only 28-28).
Xavier..all 8 wins are against team ranked higher than Nowest # 2 opp. X beat 71 Trinity, 106 DeMatha, 138 Glenville, 190 Lasalle,276 Elder, 309 St. Ed's, 1253 Chatard, and 1863 W. Woods.

Anon 8:17AM,
point taken, but MNW beat SLC on national TV, in what was dubbed the 'high school national championship.' Perception is reality. /sarcasm/

Seriously, now with the soph QB replacing Hurley, I'd be hesitant to put StX in #1 spot until they prove it in the play-offs.
StX'85

Jamie, You should consider moving Bastrop into the regional rankings along with West Monroe.

Impressive road victory by the Rams over previously undefeated Evangel Christian.

What i dont agree with is lakeland florida being rated so low. Yea they lost this and that. Blah Blah Blah. But the point is they are undefeated. Four teams they have played only have lost to them. Lake Gibson, Boyd Anderson, South Dade, Winter Haven. How can you have this team so low. When at seasons end with a much or balanced offense this team could be even better then last year. And you know a 50+ game winning streak is not bad either. I mean isnt that a reason to have Maryville ranked. So why lakeland so low?

BYRNES HIGH SCHOOL SHOULD JUMP IN THE POLLS AFTER THEY BEAT GAFFNEY TONIGHT. ONLY TEAM TO BEAT US IN THE PAST 5 YEARS. WE ARE 74-3 AND 8-0 THIS YEAR WITH WINS OVER DR PHILLIPS FROM FLA AND CENTERVILLE FROM OHIO. YES WE ARE LEAD BY A SOPH. QB WHO JUST SET A SINGLE GAME PASSING RECORD OF 463 YARDS AND A SOPH RB THAT CANNOT BE STOPPED. HE RUNS LIKE ERIC DICKERSON. REMEMBER THIS NAME MARCUS LATTIMORE HE CARRIED US IN OHIO. BYRNES HIGH SCHOOL DUNCAN SC

I am agreeing with another comment that was posted about lakeland high school. on the USA today poll they are ranked 21 and on ESPN they are ranked 18?? so why is lakeland so low on the poll? sure they lost alot of good play makers but the team still has there good dynamics. plus they have a what 52 winning streak??? and we have defaeted fort lauterdal boyd anderson and 6A school. well thats my opion.

you know ive watch alot of football over the past 25 years, especially from texas, florida and i gotta tell you. i like the way the writer is trying to downplay the achievements of the miami northwestern bulls by stating the strength of schedule....dont get it twisted, i attended the nw vs southlake carroll game in dallas....nw is the best team in the country....they have some serious talent
